# Customize Chat Settings

Chat Settings controls the model, Safety, Voice, Animation, and knowledge sources used by a Character chat.

## Open Chat Settings

1. **Open a Character chat.** Tap the Character name or **Tap here for settings**.
2. **Review Basic Settings.** The current controls include Safety, AI Model, AI Voice, and Animation.
3. **Review Knowledge Settings.** The current controls include Memory, Instructions, and World.
4. **Look for Smart Context Active.** Smart Context selects relevant details from enabled knowledge sources.

## Choose an AI Model

1. **Tap AI Model.** Compare **Lorekeeper**, **Sentinel**, **Ember**, and the eligible **Mature 18+** option.
2. **Read each model description.** Choose the behavior that fits the conversation.
3. **Review the live per-token Mana cost.** The selector is the source of truth for current pricing.
4. **Select the model.** Return to the chat.

## Choose Safety and knowledge sources

- **Safety** controls the available content level.
- **Memory** makes durable chat facts eligible for use.
- **Instructions** shape the Character’s voice, personality, and emotional behavior.
- **World** makes connected World knowledge eligible for retrieval.

> Important: Enable the broad sources the Character should be allowed to know. Smart Context chooses the relevant material for each message, so routine chats do not require manual context micromanagement.

## Troubleshooting

### A setting or model is unavailable

It may be restricted by verification or temporarily unavailable. Keep a visible supported option and try again later.

### The Character ignores an instruction

Confirm Instructions is enabled, remove contradictory directions, and make the most important behavior clear.

### World knowledge is missing

Confirm the chat is Bound to the intended World and that World is enabled. Sync the latest World changes after editing connected content.
