# Manage Instructions, Memories, and Knowledge

Use Instructions, Memories, and World knowledge to shape what a Character knows and how it behaves. Smart Context then selects relevant details for each message.

## Manage Instructions

1. **Open Chat Settings.** Enable **Instructions**.
2. **Open Instruction Settings.** Edit Style of Speaking, Personality Traits, and Emotional Response.
3. **Enable or disable individual sections when needed.** Return to the chat.

Instructions shape tone, personality, and behavior. Remove conflicting directions when a Character responds inconsistently.

## Manage Memories

1. **Open Chat Settings.** Enable **Memory** and open Memory Settings.
2. **Review saved Memories.** The current app explains that it creates a Memory after every 10 combined messages.
3. **Tap Add Memory for an important fact.** Enter the durable detail and return to the chat.

> Note: Do not rely on Memories for a one-time request. State an immediately important detail in the current message too.

## Manage World and custom knowledge

1. **Open Chat Settings.** Enable **World** and open Knowledge Settings.
2. **Choose broad sources.** Enable or disable Equipment, Characters, and Locations.
3. **Expand a category when item-level controls appear.** Choose which entries may participate.
4. **Enable Custom Knowledge when needed.** Enter the supporting text.
5. **Tap Sync Latest World Changes after editing connected content.** Return to the chat.

Smart Context retrieves relevant material from the enabled sources. You do not need to turn on every individual detail for every message.

## Troubleshooting

### New World information is missing

Confirm World is enabled, then tap **Sync Latest World Changes** and send a new message.

### A Memory is not used

Confirm Memory is enabled and that the saved fact is clear. Mention it in the next message when it is essential to the immediate response.
