Armor
Despair
This shield is crafted from obsidian-black stone studded with crimson gems that pulse with an unsettling crimson light. The shield grants you a +2 bonus to your armor class and is sentient, capable of communicating with its wielder through emotions and visions. An aura of despair emanates from the shield in a 10-foot radius, causing any creature that starts its turn within the aura to make a Wisdom saving throw or suffer disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks until the end of its next turn. The shield is cursed, and attuning to it requires a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw; failure results in the wielder becoming unable to remove the shield or benefit from any healing magic. Once per day, you may use the shield's Redirect Entropy ability to reflect a spell or magical effect back at its caster as though you had cast it yourself. The shield whispers dark thoughts and doubts to its wielder, tempting them toward cruel and selfish acts. Breaking the curse requires a remove curse spell cast by a cleric of good alignment or a wish spell. Legends say the shield was forged in the depths of the Shadowfell itself, where despair and entropy reign eternal.
