Arios Verdanthorn

Arios Verdanthorn was born during a celestial eclipse that shattered the veil between worlds, gifting her with the cursed ability to perceive the lingering essence of dragons long thought extinct—phantom roars that only she can hear echoing through the fabric of reality. Raised by a secretive order of clerics who believed these echoes were divine omens of catastrophe, she learned to weaponize her gift, converting the pain of hearing a thousand dragon deaths into righteous fury channeled through consecrated obsidian and shadow magic. When her order attempted to silence the voices in her mind through a forbidden ritual that would have stripped her of her power entirely, Arios turned her gifts against them, realizing that the dragons' echoes were not warnings but pleas—and that her so-called divine purpose was merely the manipulation of zealots who feared what they could not control. Now she hunts the spectral imprints of dragonkind across desolate lands, her twilight-ash-stained cloak a monument to the countless echoes she has collected, treating each phantom roar as a debt owed to creatures destroyed by those who claimed righteousness. She no longer serves the gods or their institutions; instead, she serves the memory of the dragons themselves, willing to commit whatever moral transgression necessary to resurrect their legacy from the void. In the eyes of the righteous, Arios is a heretic and a monster, but in the spaces between heartbeats where dragon-song still resonates, she is the only priest left who truly listens.
