Biography

Born in the Mirrored Halls of Crystalline Peak, Astraar was a halfling prodigy discovered by the Court of Echoes, an ancient order obsessed with linguistic symmetry and sonic perfection. His parents, humble gem-cutters, had no idea their son possessed an unprecedented gift: the ability to perceive reality from multiple directions simultaneously, as if living backward and forward through time in perfect synchronization. The Court trained him relentlessly, teaching him to compose ballads that read identically whether sung from beginning to end or end to beginning, while his custom lute—a mirror-image instrument forged from starsilver—allowed him to pivot flawlessly mid-verse without disrupting the intricate rhyme schemes. However, Astraar's exposure to this paradoxical magic corrupted his moral compass, as experiencing every moment twice in opposite directions shattered his sense of consequence and linear causality. He came to believe that all actions were meaningless since they could be undone by simply "reversing" through reality, leading him to commit increasingly heinous acts while maintaining his charming stage persona. Now he wanders the realm as a celebrated performer, using his hypnotic palindromic songs to manipulate audiences into committing crimes on his behalf, always pivoting away before suspicion can settle. Those who hear his music report feeling trapped between moments, unable to distinguish whether they experienced his performance or merely its reflection.
