Biography
No one knows who Bishop really was. Some say he was the son of a dock worker who disappeared beneath the cranes and cargo of the industrial harbor. Others insist he was born to a factory foreman, a clerk, or even a petty thief. Every story contradicts the last, and Bishop has never bothered to correct any of them. The man who became Bishop was a nobody—or so everyone was told. He appeared in the industrial district without fanfare, moving from shipping offices to counting houses, from warehouse ledgers to contract negotiations. Wherever he worked, profits rose, rivals stumbled, and someone always walked away convinced they'd made the better bargain. Only much later did they realize every road had quietly led back to him. Bishop's true talent isn't deception. It's seeing the angle no one else notices. He understands people with unsettling precision—their greed, pride, fears, ambitions, and the price at which each becomes negotiable. To him, information is worth more than gold, and leverage is worth more than either. His first dealings with the Steam Syndicate remain the subject of endless rumor. Some claim he swindled them. Others claim he saved them from financial ruin. A few whisper that he out-negotiated three Syndicate brokers in a single afternoon. Whatever the truth, one fact remains unchanged: They didn't make Bishop. They simply realized they couldn't afford to work against him. Today, Bishop serves as the Syndicate's Chief Broker, though many quietly believe he holds more influence than those officially above him. He has no interest in leading the Syndicate. Leaders inherit problems. Bishop prefers opportunities. Every major contract, alliance, acquisition, or dispute eventually finds its way across his desk because no one has ever matched his ability to discover the most profitable path. His greatest strength is also his greatest flaw. If there are three ways to solve a problem, Bishop will always find a fourth—one that leaves him holding the advantage. Pro
