Biography
The Blade-Tail Leopards were born from an ancient curse laid upon a pride of shadow panthers by a dying sorcerer whose jungle sanctuary they had destroyed in their hunger. As his blood seeped into the earth, his final incantation twisted their forms—darkening their pelts to obsidian black, burning their eyes with crimson fury, and hardening the final vertebrae of their tails into weapons of terrible sharpness that could cleave through stone and steel alike. Bound by the curse to hunt in packs of exactly five, these creatures developed an almost supernatural coordination, moving with predatory grace through the dense vegetation and sparse deserts where they now make their homes. Despite their fearsome appearance and devastating speed, they retain a fragment of their former nobility—they do not kill for sport, only striking back against those foolish enough to threaten their territory or young. Over centuries, jungle tribes have learned to coexist with them by respecting their boundaries and reading the subtle warnings in their crimson gaze, creating an unspoken pact of mutual avoidance. The curse that created them remains incomplete, for the sorcerer's dying wish was not merely vengeance but transformation, and so the Blade-Tail Leopards exist in a liminal state between monster and guardian, feared yet somehow necessary to the balance of their wild domains.
