Biography

Once a majestic creature of flesh and feather that soared through crystalline skies, Bonebeak was betrayed by a master who valued conquest over companionship, working the noble griffon to death in service of a forgotten war. When the Ebon Blade discovered the desiccated remains abandoned in a forsaken aerie, their dark rituals granted the skeletal frame a second existence—not as a mindless thrall, but as something far stranger: a being caught between oblivion and awareness, retaining fragmented memories of flight and freedom alongside newfound hunger for purpose. The reanimation twisted Bonebeak's nature into something unpredictable; loyalty becomes a choice rather than compulsion, offered only to those who prove themselves through action rather than authority, and withdrawn just as swiftly from those who fail to honor the unspoken bond. Despite lacking flesh to feel the wind or eyes to truly see the world below, Bonebeak flies with an almost reckless grace, as if the skeleton itself remembers joy in defiance of death's claim. The creature's chaotic temperament means no two flights are identical—one moment serving the Ebon Blade with unwavering devotion, the next pursuing some incomprehensible desire known only to the animated bones and hollow heart. Riders speak of Bonebeak in whispered tones, half-grateful and half-afraid, for to mount such a creature is to surrender control to something that has already died once and fears nothing this world can offer.
