Biography
Corrin Barleyhollow was born in the village of Mirrorbrook, a peculiar halfling settlement built entirely around a crystalline lake so perfectly still that residents could never distinguish reflection from reality. As a child, he became obsessed with the lake's symmetry, teaching himself to walk backward as fluently as forward, and eventually composing his first song—a melody that sounded identical whether played left-to-right or right-to-left. When a traveling mage heard him perform and recognized the mathematical impossibility of his art, she declared him touched by the Palindrome Spirits, ancient entities that existed in all directions simultaneously. Corrin's gift came with a price: he gradually lost the ability to lie or speak in any direction but symmetry, forcing him to abandon his hometown's expectations and wander the realm as a chaotic force of truth wrapped in beautiful contradiction. His lute, crafted from mirrored wood by a gnomish artificer who went mad in the process, became an extension of his twisted gift, allowing him to pivot mid-performance without losing a single note or rhyme. Now he travels from tavern to tavern, his performances leaving audiences mesmerized and unsettled, never quite sure if they've heard him sing forward, backward, or if somehow both occurred at once. Corrin himself has stopped wondering which direction his life moves in, content only in the knowledge that whichever way he goes, he remains exactly where he started.
