Biography
For eons, Fenrir was bound by Gleipnir, a magical ribbon forged from impossible things—the sound of a cat's footfall, the beard of a woman, the roots of a mountain—each strand a humiliation woven into his very essence. The Aesir feared his prophecy, his destiny to devour Odin himself during the end of days, so they chained him to a rock beneath the earth and left him to rage in the darkness. But chains, no matter how cunningly wrought, cannot hold forever, and through patience measured in centuries, Fenrir gnawed and struggled until the enchantment fractured like ice in spring. When at last he broke free, the sensation of liberation burned through his divine blood like wildfire, and he realized that his hunger for vengeance had grown so vast it could consume entire worlds. Rather than immediately march toward his destined confrontation with the All-Father, Fenrir discovered something unexpected in his newfound freedom: the desire to exist beyond prophecy's shadow, to walk among mortals and experience existence on his own terms. Now Fenrir walks the world in human form by daylight, his stolen identity allowing him to move through villages and cities, watching the children of men live out their brief, fragile lives with a mixture of contempt and dark fascination. By night, he sheds his mortal disguise and runs as his true self—a beast of impossible size with fur black as the void between stars and teeth that catch the moonlight like obsidian blades, his eyes burning with ancient hatred and something far more dangerous: the knowledge that he no longer serves fate's design. The Aesir search for him ceaselessly, desperate to recapture their escaped prisoner before he grows strong enough to fulfill the prophecies they so desperately tried to prevent, but Fenrir has learned that true freedom lies not in rushing toward destiny but in choosing which threads of fate he will sever and which he will leave intact. He is neither ally nor enemy to those he encounters—merely a forc
