Gyoxeizains

The Gyoxeizains were once a unified species of deep-sea philosophers who dwelt in luminescent caverns beneath the Abyssal Trench, until a catastrophic dimensional rift fractured their very biology, warping their forms into the haunting creatures they are today. Their elongated frames and curved spines became permanent fixtures after they attempted to navigate between worlds, their bodies caught halfway between the aquatic realm and the terrestrial one, leaving them perpetually hunched as if bearing the weight of two existences simultaneously. The emergence of their arachnid visages—marked by countless gleaming eyes and delicate mandibles—granted them the ability to perceive across multiple spectrums of light and shadow simultaneously, transforming them into unwilling oracles of forgotten knowledge. Their spindly fingers and stilt-like legs evolved as desperate adaptations, allowing them to traverse both the murky seafloor and the treacherous cavern walls of their fractured homeland with equal grace. Now scattered across isolated underwater kingdoms and subterranean grottos, the Gyoxeizains have come to view their grotesque transformation not as a curse but as enlightenment, believing their altered senses grant them access to truths hidden from lesser beings. They communicate through haunting subsonic frequencies that resonate through water and stone alike, and their kind has developed an obsession with collecting fragments of the original dimensional rift, convinced that reassembling it will restore their species to its former glory—or perhaps transcend it entirely.
