Biography
The Hollowhorses are remnants of an ancient celestial curse, born from a forgotten war between light and shadow when a god of mercy wept upon a battlefield of noble steeds. These creatures were not meant to be undead in the traditional sense—they are instead vessels of solidified radiance, their hollow forms constructed from luminous essence that defies natural law, encased in armor of calcified starlight that grows heavier with each passing century. The mystery of their reproduction stems from their nature as living paradoxes: they exist in a state between existence and non-existence, and only when a herd achieves critical mass in absolute isolation do they achieve the spiritual coherence necessary to birth new members from their collective luminescence. This requirement for solitude and numbers suggests they possess a form of consciousness that transcends individual awareness, a shared hive-mind that awakens only when observation cannot pierce their veil. Hollowhorses harbor no inherent malice toward the world, viewing mortals and undead alike with indifference, yet they instinctively recognize and oppose those consumed by absolute darkness or blinding righteousness, as such extremes threaten the delicate balance they unknowingly maintain. Their haunting presence in remote valleys and forgotten plains serves as a warning that some creatures exist beyond mortal comprehension, bound by rules older than civilization itself.
