His mixed heritage as a black tiger humanoid and dragonborn made him uniquely suited to this dark discipline, and he rose swiftly through the ranks until his ambitions grew too dangerous to ignore. When his master discovered that Kai had begun secretly binding the stolen essences into a mystical blade called the Jaybladen, transforming his victims into enslaved thralls bound to his will, they were forced to banish him beyond the dimensional veil separating their world from the mortal realm. For decades, Kai festered in exile, his resentment festering like an infected wound, until he finally shattered the magical chains holding him imprisoned and clawed his way back to the world of the living. Now, consumed by vengeance against his former masters and intoxicated by the promise of legendary artifacts rumored to amplify his parasitic powers, Kai hunts across the land—draining heroes, corrupting beasts, and building an army of emerald-skinned thralls who bear the mark of his touch. Summon Thrall

As an action, Kai can expend a Jaybladen charge to summon a thrall from a defeated enemy. The thrall acts on Kai's initiative and follows his commands.

Essence Burst

Kai releases a wave of stolen essence in a 30 ft. radius. Each creature must make a DC 17 Constitution saving throw, taking 6d6 necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much on a success.

Essence Drain

Kai can drain life force from enemies, gaining temporary hit points equal to half the damage dealt.

Jaybladen Mastery

Kai can use the powers of those he has defeated, gaining advantage on attacks against them.
