Kairo Mistveil

Born under a blood moon to the royal house of Mistveil, Kairo was deemed the "accident prince"—an unplanned youngest son whose arrival nearly cost his mother her life, forever marking him as an outsider within the crystalline halls of his sister's court. While Queen Zaria cultivated her image as the iron-clawed sovereign of the Clouded Leopards, young Kairo discovered an unexpected kinship with the zebra merchants who traversed the mountain passes, finding in their wandering spirit a freedom his gilded cage could never provide. His clandestine partnership with Chancellor Zuberi began innocuously enough—a shared love of old trade ledgers and forgotten routes—but evolved into something far more dangerous when Kairo realized his sister's pride was walking blindly into traps laid by the Shadow Pride's assassins. Unable to openly defy Zaria without fracturing the kingdom, he devised an elegant solution: weaving prophecies and warnings into the mundane language of commerce, each shipment manifest a cipher only Zuberi could decode. Through years of careful subterfuge, Kairo's cryptic refrain—"Trust the road"—has become a beacon of salvation for the Golden Pride, a phrase that reminds them that sometimes the path to survival lies not in the seat of power, but in the humility of those who walk between worlds. Yet every message he sends risks exposure, and Kairo lives with the knowledge that one miscalculation could transform him from his sister's forgotten brother into her greatest enemy.
