Luca

In the primordial depths of a young Earth, when the planet's surface still roiled with chemical storms and volcanic fury, a single microscopic entity emerged from the turbulent waters—a being that would come to be known as Luca, though it possessed no consciousness of its own significance. Born from the chaotic dance of amino acids and nucleotides in hydrothermal vents, this humble ancestor possessed an extraordinary gift: an uncanny ability to adapt, replicate, and persist through conditions that obliterated all competing forms of proto-life around it. While countless other molecular configurations arose and vanished in the cosmic blink of an eye, Luca alone found the perfect balance between fragility and resilience, thriving in the gaps where others crumbled to extinction. Through billions of iterations and mutations, this solitary survivor branched into two lineages, then four, then countless others, each carrying within their very essence the ancient blueprint of their progenitor. Every creature that would eventually walk, swim, or fly across the world—from the tiniest bacterium to the mightiest beast—carries Luca's chemical signature woven into the deepest core of their being. In a very real sense, Luca never truly died; instead, it fractured into the magnificent tapestry of all life, making it the most successful ancestor to ever exist, an organism whose legacy spans the entirety of the living cosmos.
