Character
Milanakithna The Unchained Stray
Milanakithna arrived in Zona Rosia seeking sanctuary, carrying forged documents and desperate hope, only to have her purse stolen within hours of crossing the border. When the guards discovered her true nature during the investigation, sanctuary became a cell, and hope became a bitter joke. The xenophobic regime showed her no mercy—she was simply another non-human vermin to be contained and forgotten. Yet they had no idea what they had imprisoned: a master of the Endless Waltz, an ancient and nearly extinct discipline that taught practitioners to move as water moves, to flow with rather than against the currents of combat. For weeks, the guards threw themselves at her in frustration, their fists and weapons finding only air and empty space while she remained untouched. Their humiliation became her opportunity, and the Colosseum officials saw profit where the jailers saw only embarrassment. They offered her a choice between the cell and the arena, between slow decay and brutal survival. Thirteen years became her sentence, though not the one she originally received. The crowds knew her only as the Colosseum Dog Thirty—a name born from her viciousness and the fact that no opponent lasted beyond thirty seconds when she was released from her chains. The Endless Waltz transformed into something darker in that arena, her graceful technique weaponized into swift, merciless violence that left spectators both horrified and enthralled. The feather bed and elven wine became her compensation, small comforts that made her cage slightly more tolerable, though the taste of wine could never wash away the taste of blood. Eventually, the crowds moved on to newer spectacles, her name fading from their lips as quickly as it had been chanted. When Zona Rosia finally deported her—a broken, aging relic no longer worth the cost of housing—Milanakithna returned home as one of the last living masters of a dying art, forever changed by the chains she had slipped, forever haunted by the dog they had made her become.
