Mildread was once a celebrated sculptor's masterpiece—a life-sized clay figure meant to be his greatest work, destined for a grand museum exhibition. On the night before the unveiling, a jealous rival artist broke into the studio and shattered the figure's delicate jaw, then deliberately warped the spine during a fit of rage, leaving the creation permanently disfigured. When a freak magical storm swept through the city that same evening, Mildread inexplicably awakened with consciousness and fury, her emerging personality shaped entirely by the trauma of her violent awakening and the horrified reactions of those who discovered her. She escaped into the world bitter and defiant, convinced that her flaws made her somehow superior to the "perfect" people who had rejected her, adopting the mannerisms and attitude of the popular girls who had once mocked her creator's work. Now she wanders from town to town, alternating between cruel mockery of others and desperate demands for validation, her sharp tongue often cutting deeper than any blade. Despite her monstrous appearance and caustic demeanor, there remains a wounded, desperate teenager trapped inside her earthen form, desperately seeking someone who might love her not in spite of her brokenness, but because of it.
