Biography
Mullroy wasn't always a man of the sea, but a failed merchant's son from a coastal town who turned to piracy after his family's trading business collapsed into ruin—a betrayal orchestrated by a rival merchant captain who happened to be the very man Mullroy would later serve aboard the Black Pearl. Decades of plundering merchant vessels and naval fleets hardened his heart, but it was his final act of cruelty—ordering the slaughter of an entire island village to cover up a failed raid—that sealed his damnation when a dying witch-woman cursed him and his crew to eternal servitude, their bodies slowly decaying while their consciousnesses remained painfully aware. Now, bound to captain's orders by supernatural chains he cannot break, Mullroy shuffles through each day with the grim knowledge that his only hope for redemption lies in an impossible task: recovering a cursed artifact the captain lost years ago, an object so dangerous that even mentioning its location invites catastrophe. His cynicism has calcified into a protective shell, a dark humor and fatalistic worldview that allows him to function despite the constant agony of his deteriorating form and the knowledge that death itself has been denied to him. Every sarcastic quip and doom-laden prophecy that spills from his lips is both a coping mechanism and a genuine warning born from centuries of witnessing the cruelest outcomes possible. Mullroy follows orders not out of loyalty, but because the curse leaves him no choice, though part of him—the part that remembers being human—still harbors a desperate, irrational hope that somehow, against all probability, the curse might finally be broken.
