Orla Brightspear

Orla discovered her gift during the Silence of Mourning, a sacred orcish tradition where the bereaved abstain from speech for seven days—she alone heard her grandmother's final message encoded in the rhythmic creaking of the longhouse timbers as mourners walked past her body. Raised by scholars in the Archive of Echoes, a sanctuary dedicated to preserving forgotten languages, she learned that every structure accumulated memories through the percussion of countless footsteps, each gait a unique dialect speaking volumes about the walker's intent, emotion, and origin. Her sorcerous connection to these vibrations manifested as an innate magic, allowing her to translate the building's whispered testimonies into coherent speech, granting her access to secrets sealed within ancient walls. When her Archive was threatened by those who would weaponize her abilities for conquest, Orla pledged herself to lawful justice, using her extraordinary gift to expose hidden crimes, reunite lost souls with their untold stories, and ensure that the voiceless—both dead and living—found sanctuary in truth. Now she wanders from city to city, her lightweight coat bearing the dust of a hundred investigations, her notebook filled with the confessions of corridors and the songs of staircases. She kneels in the darkness of forgotten places not as a supplicant, but as a witness, translating the world's most honest testimonies into a language the living can finally understand.
