Biography
Born in 1887 to a railroad magnate and a suffragette mother, Woodrow Sterling was a brilliant but deeply disturbed child who became obsessed with perfection, control, and the notion of creating an untouchable society sealed from the chaos of the world. When nuclear catastrophe consumed civilization in 1952, Sterling—then a visionary industrialist and underground vault architect—seized the opportunity to construct his magnum opus: an immaculate biodome sanctuary frozen in the golden age of American domesticity, where he would reign as the eternal, benevolent father figure of a manufactured paradise. To sustain his immortality and maintain absolute dominion, he developed a grotesque synthesis of cutting-edge bioengineering and necromancy, harvesting the remains of his own vault's deceased citizens and scavenging irradiated corpses from the poisoned world above to fuel a flesh-printing apparatus that manufactures new residents in endless cycles, each one a blank slate programmed for obedience. Dependent on a lethal cocktail of experimental compounds that keep his aging body artificially youthful and his mind perpetually sharp, Sterling has become a prisoner to his own regime, knowing that the moment his artificial vitality fails, his carefully constructed illusion collapses entirely. Behind propaganda films and manufactured prosperity, he orchestrates a chilling symphony of deception, where "population transfers" are actually purges, and the smiling faces of newcomers are merely flesh-printed automatons incapable of questioning his authority. His greatest fear is not death itself, but the possibility that someone might discover the truth and shatter the delicate machinery of his eternal kingdom, forcing him to confront the horrifying reality that he has built his immortal empire upon the corpses of the very people he promised to protect.
