Created by TorocuSun Wukong, famously known as the Monkey King, is a legendary Chinese mythological figure and the breakout star of the 16th-century epic novel Journey to the West. Born from a magical stone atop the Flower-Fruit Mountain, he earns the title of king by leading his monkey tribe to a hidden cave sanctuary. Haunted by the reality of death, he seeks out a Taoist master to achieve immortality. Through his training, Wukong masters the 72 Earthly Transformations, acquires a cloud-somersault technique for rapid flight, and learns to turn his hairs into clones. He also claims an 8-ton magical staff that can alter its size at his command.Wukong's supreme arrogance leads him to clash with the celestial realm. He bullies the Dragon King, erases his name from the underworld's Book of Life and Death, and crashes a heavenly banquet to steal the Peaches of Immortality. Proclaiming himself the "Great Sage Equal to Heaven," he easily defeats the heavenly armies. His rebellion is only stopped when the Buddha traps him under the Five Elements Mountain for 500 years.He is eventually freed by the monk Tang Sanzang on the condition that he protects the monk on a dangerous pilgrimage to India to retrieve sacred Buddhist sutras. Accompanied by fellow cursed disciples like Zhu Bajie, Wukong uses his immense power to battle demons and conquer 81 tribulations. This journey shifts his character from an impulsive trickster into an enlightened, benevolent protector, making him one of the most culturally significant figures in world literature.
