Svetlana Pragen

Born into the prestigious House of Kiven, Svetlana inherited not just wealth and privilege but an unshakeable sense of entitlement that ran through her veins like wildfire. When her brother Nikolai's spectacular drunken dereliction of duty shattered their family's standing overnight, stripping them of titles and lands, most would have crumbled under the shame—but Svetlana discovered within herself a wild, untamed magic that responded to her refusal to accept their diminished station. She became a creature of calculated manipulation and barely-restrained chaos, using her sorcerous gifts and remaining charm to claw back fragments of respectability while secretly scorning the very rules she pretended to uphold. Years of maintaining this exhausting façade of nobility—attending galas as a penniless pretender, befriending those with influence, all while her magic simmered with barely-contained resentment—nearly consumed her from within. Everything changed when Joriska, her brother's wife, accomplished what Svetlana's schemes never could: she earned the family's honor back through genuine heroism and virtue, restoring their noble status in a single stroke. Rather than feel gratitude, Svetlana experienced a strange mixture of relief and bitter irony, realizing that her sister-in-law had succeeded precisely because she lacked Svetlana's cynical ambition and chaotic nature. Now restored to nobility, Svetlana finds herself trapped between the respectable life she fought so desperately to reclaim and the untamed, anarchic impulses that made her powerful enough to survive her family's fall.
