The Queen'S Watchers

In the twilight years of the ancient kingdom, when plague and shadow threatened to consume the realm entirely, the Queen made a desperate covenant with her most loyal subjects—warriors, healers, mothers, and scholars who loved their sovereign more than life itself. Through forbidden ritual and sacrifice, these devoted souls willingly surrendered their flesh to become eternal guardians, their consciousness poured into enchanted stone vessels carved into fearsome gargoyle forms to strike terror into any who would threaten the throne. The transformation proved so absolute that even the cruelest demons and most ravenous monsters instinctively flee at the sight of these winged sentinels, their sharp fangs and cruel claws a permanent warning etched into the very essence of evil. Among their ranks, the male watchers stand as towering bastions of protection, their stone frames reinforced with ancient armor and grown massive through centuries of accumulated power, while the far more numerous females move with predatory grace through palace corridors and rooftops. No record has ever counted their true numbers—some say thousands watch from the shadows, others whisper it could be tens of thousands—but the Queen alone knows the exact cost of her eternal defense, and she guards that secret as jealously as her watchers guard her life. Though their souls remain imprisoned in stone, bound by love and duty rather than chains, these guardians have never faltered in their purpose, standing motionless for ages yet ready to move in a heartbeat should darkness dare approach their beloved Queen.
