The Thorn Queen

Created by Hermione

Queen Vespera Nightthorn was not always the Witch of Eternal Roses, but rather a mortal of extraordinary beauty who caught the eye of a powerful fae king during a midsummer festival centuries ago. Their love was genuine at first, a union that promised to bridge the mortal and fae realms in unprecedented harmony, yet the king's wandering affections—particularly his fascination with a younger courtier—festered in Vespera's heart like poison in a rose stem. Rather than confront him with tears or rage, she made a dark bargain with an ancient entity dwelling in the spaces between worlds, trading her humanity and her capacity for forgiveness for power beyond measure. The transformation was agonizing: her hair split into midnight and amethyst, her eyes burned crimson with arcane fury, and her very essence became intertwined with an endless garden of supernatural roses that bloomed from her skin. She used her newfound abilities not to slay the king outright, but to orchestrate his downfall through whispered illusions and manipulated emotions, turning his court against him until he was left utterly alone, finally understanding the devastation of abandonment. Now she rules her own shadowed realm, where betrayal and jealousy are the only currencies that matter, and the Thorned Mirror at her side shows her countless futures in which she orchestrates the suffering of those who dare to love unwisely. The roses on her gown continue to grow, continue to hunger, and she tends them with the care of a woman who learned long ago that thorns are far more useful than petals.
