Vanta Black

Discovered as an unnamed foundling amid the ash-laden wastes of the Scorched Expanse, Vanta was claimed by nomadic scavengers who perceived the feverish ambition smoldering within his infant gaze—a hunger that transcended the ordinary mortal yearning for power and survival. For decades, he served as apprentice to the enigmatic Archmagus Vermillion, dwelling within that master's crumbling tower whilst absorbing incantations of such devastating magnitude that the surrounding air itself seemed to recoil in dread. Yet Vermillion's refusal to impart the supreme secret—the unholy communion that would transmute a mortal vessel into a conduit for the primordial forces that spawned existence itself—festered within Vanta's mind until obsession became his only sustenance. When the moment of vulnerability finally arrived, he did not hesitate; he drowned his master's final agonies beneath waves of forbidden knowledge, binding his own body and essence to the ancient chaos that dwells beyond creation's veil through a ritual so profane that reality itself shuddered. The apotheosis he achieved came at a terrible cost: with each universe-shattering incantation he channels, another fragment of his mortal self erodes, hollowed out and consumed by the ravenous void now dwelling in his core. Now he wanders the realms as a specter of ambition incarnate, his robes woven from the fabric of nothingness itself, leaving wounds in the world's flesh wherever his corrupted feet tread.
