Skin Eater Egg

This grotesque ovoid is encased in a layer of stretched skin—whether harvested from beast or humanoid, none can say with certainty. The egg itself pulses with a sickly warmth, and beneath its translucent membrane, shadowy forms writhe in anticipation. When conditions prove favorable and the protective skin covering remains intact, the egg will eventually rupture to release ravenous larvae known as tributes. These newly hatched creatures possess an insatiable hunger and will consume any organic matter in their vicinity, growing at an alarming rate until they achieve their full, horrifying adult form. The egg seems to draw sustenance from the very skin that encases it, creating a nauseating symbiosis between host and parasite. Those foolish enough to handle such an object would be wise to consider whether the potential danger justifies any benefit, as the consequences of an accidental hatching could prove catastrophic.
