The Shinrinsei Field Tent (森林精野営幕)

Created by Kuromegane2

This lightweight, forest-green tent serves as a practical shelter for wilderness expeditions throughout the Verdant Sanctuary, traditionally used by Shinrinsei Rangers and Shinrō Riders during resource-gathering journeys. Crafted from weather-resistant cloth and treated wood, it comfortably accommodates two occupants while blending seamlessly into its natural surroundings. The tent's design prioritizes portability and durability, making it ideal for extended camping in varied forest conditions. Beyond its practical function, the tent holds cultural significance within Shinrinsei society, as the act of sharing it for three consecutive nights carries profound meaning—traditionally regarded as a declaration of matrimonial intent between unmarried individuals. The tent gained notoriety through a humorous incident involving the human hero Yūjin Shinrinryū and the elven ranger Moriyama Kanade, who embarked on a teaching expedition to instruct him in wilderness survival and resource identification. Unaware of this ancient custom, Yūjin's genuine respect and innocent gestures—including offering warmth during cold nights and praising Kanade's remarkable skills—created an amusing cultural misunderstanding. While Yūjin remained oblivious to the implications of their shared shelter, Kanade gradually recognized the ironic contradiction between his unknowing actions and the expectations his presence created. The tent has since become a symbol of cross-cultural misadventure and the complications that arise when summoned outsiders encounter local traditions they do not comprehend. {The Shinrinsei Field Tent (森林精野営幕) is a lightweight forest-green tent used by elven Shinrinsei Rangers and Shinrō Riders while gathering wild vegetables, mushrooms, fruits, medicinal herbs, and other resources throughout the Verdant Sanctuary. Crafted from weather-resistant cloth and treated wood, it comfortably shelters two people and blends naturally into the forest. The tent became the center of a humorous anecdote involving the summoned human hero Yūjin Shinrinryū and the elven lady Moriyama Kanade. When Yūjin asked Kanade to teach him how to identify and gather useful resources in the wilderness, she suggested camping together in the Sanctuary for several days so he could learn through experience. Yūjin agreed, completely unaware of an old Shinrinsei tradition: when an unmarried man and woman willingly share the same tent for three consecutive nights, the clan traditionally regards their bond as a declaration of marriage. During the trip, Yūjin remained respectful and clueless about the custom, even offering Kanade his warm back when she became cold while he slept facing away. He also praised her wilderness skills, cooking, beauty, and said that her future husband would be very lucky. Kanade gradually realized that the summoned hero had no idea what his innocent words and actions meant within Shinrinsei culture.} Note: I created the Shinrinsei Field Tent as both a practical D&D item and a humorous example of cultural misunderstanding in Aetheryon. I was inspired by the isekai anime GATE, where the opening of a portal between Japan and a fantasy world creates amusing misunderstandings between cultures. I wanted Yūjin, as someone summoned from another world, to experience something similar in a more wholesome way. The Shinrinsei tradition surrounding three nights in the same tent gives the item its central joke: Yūjin thinks he is simply learning wilderness survival from Kanade, while he unknowingly participates in a meaningful elven custom. The idea also reflects how I was raised to sincerely compliment people who help me, a habit influenced by the French education I received from my late paternal grandmother. I would naturally praise someone’s cooking, skills, or kindness, although I would probably blush while complimenting a lady about food she prepared for me, especially because I have never experienced that situation personally. Likewise, if I were dating s
