Grimstak Ridge

Created by RavynMoon

Grimstak Ridge stands as one of the most desolate and haunting locations on the Kirovan continent, a barren expanse of cracked earth and toxic soil where the very essence of life seems to have been stripped away. Situated on a remote peninsula in the central lowlands, this forsaken wasteland has resisted every attempt at ecological restoration, as if the land itself bears the scars of some catastrophic trauma. The ridge earned its grim reputation during the Celestial Collision of 447 AS, when extraterrestrial explorers descended upon the peninsula seeking peaceful communion with Kirovan civilization. Instead of diplomats and scholars, the visitors encountered the heavily fortified Armored Division Demonrex, whose commanders mistook the approaching vessels for an invasion force. What followed was a devastating confrontation between primitive but resilient tank warfare and technologically superior alien weaponry—a battle that saw neither side emerge victorious. The conflict concluded not in triumph but in mutual annihilation, leaving no survivors to recount the details of that fateful day. Today, Grimstak Ridge remains a vast necropolis of twisted metal and scorched wreckage, where rusted Kirovan tanks lie scattered across the barren ground alongside the incomprehensible remains of alien craft. Scholars and historians occasionally venture to the ridge to study the remnants, hoping to glean knowledge from the frozen moment of first contact gone catastrophically wrong. The peninsula itself has become largely abandoned, a somber monument to the dangers of misunderstanding and the terrible cost of conflict between worlds.

Landmarks

The Communion Chamber

A partially intact alien vessel's central hub, half-buried in the toxic soil of Grimstak Ridge. Its crystalline walls still faintly hum with residual energy, and strange symbols glow dimly along the interior surfaces. Inside, adventurers discover a circular chamber where the alien delegation was preparing their first contact protocols—scattered translation devices, biological samples in stasis fields, and a central dais with star charts marking their origin point. The chamber remains eerily preserved, frozen in the moment before the battle erupted, offering clues about the visitors' intentions and technology, though the toxic atmosphere and occasional energy surges make prolonged exploration dangerous.

The Ossuary Spire

A towering structure of fused alien metal and Kirovan steel, rising approximately 40 feet from the wasteland floor. The spire was formed when a direct hit from an alien energy weapon melted and welded together the wreckage of Tank Commander Vex's command vehicle with an alien scout vessel. Skeletal remains of both species are visible within the translucent, crystallized sections of the fused metal—a haunting monument to the catastrophic misunderstanding. Strange harmonic vibrations emanate from within during certain times of day, and adventurers report that proximity to the spire causes compasses to spin wildly and creates an unsettling sensation of being observed. The base is surrounded by scorched earth that refuses to support any vegetation, and scattered around it are personal effects from both the Kirovan soldiers and alien crew—dog tags, unidentifiable instruments, and fragments of what may have been diplomatic gifts, now corroded beyond recognition.
