Szithlu Fanas, the legendary and ancient capital of the Queendom of Lolth-Lórien, stands as a testament to the might and cunning of the Drow people. This subterranean metropolis, nestled deep within the Underdark, is a labyrinth of intrigue and power struggles, where rival clans vie for the favor of the unstable and tyrannical Queen Zilvraea VII, known as "The Mad." The city's history is shrouded in the mists of time, a tale of dark rituals, arcane sorcery, and the ever-present shadow of the Spider Queen, Lolth. Szithlu Fanas is a place of stark contrasts, where the opulent palaces of the noble houses stand cheek by jowl with the squalid slums inhabited by the commoners and slaves. The city's landmarks are as diverse as they are intriguing. The Hive Of Secrets, a vast underground network of tunnels and chambers, is rumored to be the lair of a sentient hive-mind that controls the city's spy network. The Sentient Orb, a glowing sphere of unknown origin, is said to possess the power to commune with the very fabric of the Underdark itself. The Otherworldly Obelisk, a towering monolith of unknown purpose, stands as a silent witness to the city's dark history, while the Shadow Pits, a series of deep chasms, are the domain of the Driders, a hybrid race of Drow and spider. The Arachnid Coliseum is the place where Drow Clan warriors test their skills and prisoners die for the entertainment of the baying crowd. Szithlu Fanas trades in slaves mostly captured in raids against other subterranean humanoids. In addition more wealth is generated from the sale of Giant Beetle chitin and dung, and a myriad of species of subterranean fungi.
