The Great Forest Of Tob

Created by Bobbyx

The Great Forest of Tob stands as one of the most formidable and perilous wilderness regions in the known world, stretching across vast territories south of the former Re-Estize Kingdom's borders. This immense woodland, spanning roughly one-fifth the area of the defunct kingdom, emerged into prominence following the mysterious appearance of the Great Tomb of Nazarick in the grasslands along its northern frontier. The forest teems with an extraordinary diversity of dangerous fauna, ranging from organized goblinoid tribes and massive ogres to more exotic threats such as nagas, treants, and dryads, alongside countless magical beasts whose origins remain largely unknown. Beneath the forest floor lies an extensive labyrinth of cave systems that have resisted thorough exploration for generations, likely harboring creatures and treasures yet undiscovered. The region's turbulent history saw dark elves once reign supreme until their dominion was shattered by the emergence of the Evil Tree Zy'tl Q'ae, a parasitic treant that drained life from the surrounding land. For approximately two centuries, three powerful entities divided the forest's territories among themselves: the hibernating Evil Tree and its dryad attendant Pinison Pol Perlia controlled the north, the enigmatic Wise King—revealed to be a giant magical hamster named Hamsuke—ruled the south, and the formidable Naga clan under the Demon Snake of the West commanded the western reaches. Today, frontier settlements such as Carne Village serve as vital outposts and supply bases for the brave adventurers and material gatherers who venture into Tob's depths seeking rare alchemical components and magical artifacts.

The Petrified Grove of Whispers

A haunting circular clearing deep within the Great Forest of Tob where massive ancient trees stand frozen mid-growth, their bark transformed to stone by some forgotten magical cataclysm. The trees form natural archways and alcoves, and luminescent moss clings to their petrified surfaces, casting an eerie blue-green glow throughout the grove. Strange crystalline formations jut from the ground between the roots, humming with residual magical energy. Local adventurers report hearing faint whispers emanating from within the stone—some claim it's the voices of the dark elves who once ruled these lands, while others believe it's the forest itself trying to communicate. The grove serves as a natural waypoint for expeditions, though many travelers experience disorientation and temporal distortion within its boundaries, with some claiming hours passed in mere minutes, and others the reverse. Rare alchemical components grow only here, making it a coveted destination despite its unsettling atmosphere.

The Sunken Amphitheater of the Dark Elves

A crumbling circular structure hidden deep within the central forest, partially reclaimed by ancient roots and overgrown vegetation. Stone seats carved from dark marble spiral downward into a moss-covered arena floor, where faint magical runes still glow with residual elven enchantments. The amphitheater bears signs of deliberate abandonment—toppled pillars, shattered statues, and scorched earth suggesting a violent conflict from centuries past. Adventurers report hearing whispers and ethereal music echoing from the depths at dusk, and strange luminescent fungi bloom only within its boundaries. Scholars believe this was once a gathering place for dark elf ceremonies before their exile, and rumors suggest valuable artifacts or forbidden knowledge may still be buried beneath the arena's foundation.
