The Great Tomb Of Nazarick

Created by Bobbyx

The Great Tomb of Nazarick stands as one of the most formidable and mysterious strongholds in the known world, a colossal underground complex that extends far beneath the grasslands near the Great Forest of Tob. From the surface, visitors encounter an imposing rectangular mausoleum approximately 200 meters in width, encircled by towering defensive walls and surrounded by an extensive cemetery filled with weathered tombstones and elaborate statues that speak to ages past. This ten-level subterranean fortress represents centuries of architectural ambition and magical innovation, originally conceived as a six-floor defensive structure before its expansion into the sprawling complex it is today. The upper levels descend through dark catacombs and vast underground caverns, including the legendary underground lake of Gargantua and a perpetually frozen glacial domain wracked by eternal blizzards. Deeper within lie ecosystems of artificial creation—a thriving jungle with its own illumination cycle and combat arenas, alongside volcanic chambers where magma flows endlessly. The lower levels house the administrative heart of the stronghold, featuring luxurious quarters for the ruling elite and an ornate throne room of breathtaking grandeur. The tomb's defenses are legendary, protected by intricate magical barriers, countless mechanical and arcane traps, and commanded by powerful entities of immense capability. Few who enter without permission have ever emerged, and the tomb remains an impenetrable symbol of authority and supremacy in the region.

Landmarks

The Weeping Statuary

A haunting garden of life-sized stone statues scattered throughout the cemetery grounds surrounding Nazarick's mausoleum. Each statue depicts a different humanoid figure frozen in expressions of anguish, despair, or defiance. Upon closer inspection, adventurers discover that the statues are unnaturally cold to the touch and occasionally weep actual tears of a dark, oily substance. Local legends suggest these are petrified intruders or failed challengers, preserved as eternal warnings. The statuary serves as both a macabre monument and a subtle magical alarm system—the statues subtly shift their positions when unauthorized visitors approach, and their weeping intensifies during times of heightened magical activity within the fortress below.

The Obsidian Sepulcher of the First Guardians

A massive underground chamber located on the 3rd floor of Nazarick, carved from black stone and adorned with towering obsidian monoliths. This ancient sepulcher serves as the final resting place of the original Floor Guardians and contains intricate murals depicting the history of Ainz Ooal Gown's conquest. The chamber is perpetually shrouded in an eerie blue luminescence from enchanted crystals embedded in the walls, and adventurers report feeling an overwhelming sense of dread and reverence. Hidden alcoves contain sealed sarcophagi, each guarded by spectral sentinels that manifest when disturbed. The floor itself is inscribed with complex runic circles that form a protective ward, making it a crucial landmark for understanding both the fortress's defenses and its mysterious origins.
