Before Drifter arrived in the world of *Jujutsu Kaisen*, he encountered creatures shaped by radiation-induced evolution in his home world. Following a nuclear war, vast swathes of the USSR—Drifter's homeland—were heavily irradiated, drastically altering the local ecosystem; the surviving mutants, though often grotesque and sickly, developed a host of evolutionary adaptations to withstand the radiation and survive in this harsh new reality. These traits included more teeth, sharper claws, heightened reflexes, tougher hides, muscles of immense strength, acute senses, and sheer resilience, alongside specialized proteins capable of neutralizing radioactive contaminants from ingested food and processing them for natural excretion. All these adaptations were essential for survival amidst the brutal natural selection of a ravaged, post-apocalyptic wasteland. Drifter created this Cursed Technique as a tribute to those radioactive mutants and they philosophy - "if my kind are dying, then I become new one": by maintaining his concentration, he can adopt both advantages and drawbacks of these creatures, physically transforming parts of his body to match them. He can sprout the wings of giant insects, reshape his head and neck to resemble mutated wolves with bone-crushing bite force, grow a scorpion-like tail that fires acid laced with paralytic venom, transform his limbs into powerful mutant appendages equipped with natural weaponry like claws and hooves, and gain accelerated reflexes. price of technique use - constant, agonizing pain at using time.
