The resulting surface becomes harder, smoother, and far more resistant to water penetration while preserving the wood’s natural flexibility. Combined with refined pine resin lacquer, the treatment greatly extends the lifespan of ships and siege equipment exposed to harsh weather. It was created by the summoned hero Yūjin Shinrinryū when he wanted to replicate a scientific discovery of arc welding on the surface of wood pieces to make water proof boats for the Kurogane Shogunate.
