Get Started with Shared Worlds

Shared Worlds support group storytelling, team worldbuilding, and public contributions. Start one during creation or convert a World you already own.

Create a new Shared World

1. Open the Create World flow.
2. Enable Shared World.
3. Add relevant tags.
4. Complete the current World creation flow.

Convert an existing World

1. Open a World you own.
2. Open its creator controls.
3. Enable the Shared World or public-collaboration control shown there.
4. Review Convert to Shared World?.
5. Tap I’m sure to convert, or Nevermind to cancel.

The setting name can differ between initial Shared World creation and later public-contribution controls. Use the label shown in the current app.

Configure participation

The World creator tools include:

• Public contributions: allows eligible users to submit Summons.
• Auto-approve: controls whether submissions need owner review.
• Allow Requests to Join: adds a request path to public World pages.
• Members: opens active members and pending invitations.
• Publish: starts the current publishing flow.
• Timeline: shows World activity by date.

Choose the right participation path

• Invite a collaborator when someone needs member access and assigned permissions.
• Allow requests when you want people to ask to join from the public World.
• Enable contributions when people should submit eligible Summons without becoming collaborators.
