Avalon
Avalon exists in a liminal space between worlds, a mystical island veiled perpetually by enchanted mists that obscure it from ordinary perception and accessible only to those who know the hidden paths, possess ancient knowledge, or receive guidance from its inhabitants. The island's landscape is dominated by distinctive silver-barked trees that shimmer in ethereal light, creating an otherworldly forest canopy beneath which lie healing orchards, contemplative gardens, and stone temples of remarkable age and craftsmanship. The island's most striking feature is its relationship with time itself—a phenomenon that has confounded visitors for centuries, where a single night's rest may correspond to months in the outside world, or conversely, years of residence may pass as mere hours beyond Avalon's boundaries. Morgan le Fay maintains her seat of power within an elegant tower that rises from the island's heart, serving as both residence and center of a sophisticated court where healers, mystics, scholars, and practitioners of forgotten arts gather and work. The island's notable locations include the sacred Lake Temple, the restorative Orchard of Rest where ailments are mended, the enigmatic Hall of Mirrors that reveals hidden truths, concealed docks for mysterious arrivals, and extensive healing gardens tended by those devoted to restoration and renewal. Though Avalon harbors no active hostility toward the kingdom of Logres and its ruler Arthur, its people preserve ancient traditions and historical grievances that the newer kingdom frequently dismisses or disregards. The island represents a repository of old wisdom and power, existing in deliberate separation from the ambitions and politics of the mortal realm, yet forever intertwined with its fate.

Broceliande Forest
Broceliande is an enigmatic woodland realm situated to the west of Camelot, renowned throughout the kingdoms for its otherworldly properties and ancient, untamed magic. The forest exists partially beyond the normal rules of geography and time, where the landscape itself seems to possess memory and will, causing paths to shift based on the traveler's deepest intentions, fears, and recollections. Those who venture into its depths often find themselves walking in circles for hours, returning inexplicably to landmarks they believed they had left far behind, or stumbling upon architectural remnants and settlements that crumbled into ruin centuries before their birth. The woodland harbors profound magical forces that predate the Arthurian kingdom itself, operating according to laws that resist conventional magical manipulation and control. Throughout Broceliande, sacred springs flow with properties both restorative and prophetic, while weathered standing stones mark boundaries between different layers of reality, and overgrown shrines speak to forgotten faiths and lost peoples. Among its mysteries lies the enchanted imprisonment of Merlin himself, the great sorcerer bound within the forest by magic so potent that he cannot escape or communicate through conventional means, though his influence persists through dreams, animal messengers, and fragmented visions. The forest contains a legendary path that winds toward the mystical isle of Avalon, and travelers report hearing disembodied voices, witnessing impossible reflections in still pools, and discovering ancient roads buried beneath centuries of growth. Broceliande offers only riddles and partial truths to those who seek understanding, rewarding curiosity with mystery rather than revelation.

The Green Chapel
Nestled within a desolate valley that stretches beyond the reaches of the northern forest lies the Green Chapel, an enigmatic sanctuary that predates most written histories of the realm. Rather than a structure of stone and mortar, this sacred site consists of an enormous earthen mound, its ancient slopes now cloaked in thick moss and crowned with weathered standing stones that seem to have grown from the land itself. Gnarled yew trees of impossible age encircle the mound, their twisted branches creating a natural barrier, while their exposed root systems writhe across the ground like the veins of some slumbering giant. A narrow underground stream winds through the site, carving hidden channels beneath the earth before vanishing entirely into the depths below, and the entrance to the mound yawns like the open mouth of a tomb. Within the central hollow rests a stone altar of unknown origin alongside an execution block, both worn smooth by centuries of wind and rain. The perpetually verdant vegetation that flourishes here defies the harsh winter climate that grips the surrounding lands, suggesting forces older than nature itself maintain this place. When wind passes through the standing stones, it produces an otherworldly sound reminiscent of distant voices in prayer or lamentation. Those who speak oaths within these grounds discover their words carry an uncanny weight and binding power, while deception becomes nearly impossible to sustain and hidden shame presses upon the conscience like a physical burden. The Green Chapel has long served as a place of reckoning where bargains are finally called due and the truth of one's character cannot remain concealed.

Castle Hautdesert
Nestled deep within the vast northern forest where civilization fades into untamed wilderness, Castle Hautdesert emerges like a mirage for weary travelers who have lost their way among snow-laden paths and impenetrable mist. The fortress's ancient stone walls, draped in silvery winter ivy, glow warmly from within as perpetual fires burn throughout its halls, creating an oasis of comfort in a landscape of frozen desolation. Lord and Lady Bertilak preside over this domain with meticulous grace, commanding a household of well-trained servants who anticipate guests' every need with almost supernatural attentiveness. The castle's grandeur encompasses a sprawling great hall for feasting, luxurious guest chambers, Lady Bertilak's private solar adorned with fine tapestries, a consecrated chapel, extensive kitchens, and sprawling stables connected to vast hunting grounds that sustain the household's prosperity. What distinguishes Castle Hautdesert is not its architecture or hospitality alone, but rather the unspoken customs that govern its inhabitants—traditions of honest gift-giving, absolute respect for household arrangements, and adherence to rules that seem reasonable until circumstances test one's virtue and resolve. The castle's true nature reveals itself not through overt threats or violence, but through subtle observation, carefully constructed situations, and moral challenges that exploit human weakness. Beneath the inviting warmth and generous provisions lies an atmosphere of deliberate performance, where guests gradually realize they are participants in something far more complex than simple shelter from the storm.

New Camelot
New Camelot stands as the magnificent seat of King Arthur's authority, dominating the landscape of Logres from its elevated position atop a fortified hill. The castle's distinctive pale stone fortifications rise majestically against the sky, crowned with numerous towers that serve both defensive and symbolic purposes. Colorful royal banners flutter from the battlements, visible for miles across the surrounding countryside and signaling the kingdom's strength to all who approach. The settlement sprawls across multiple terraces descending from the castle itself, encompassing bustling courtyards filled with merchants, soldiers, and courtiers engaged in the daily business of governance. Beyond the castle walls stretches a patchwork of winter fields and prosperous villages connected by well-maintained roads that radiate outward like spokes on a wheel. Dense forests ring the outer boundaries of this domain, providing both resources and natural barriers against intrusion. While New Camelot presents an image of unshakeable prosperity and security to the outside world, with its organized defenses and apparent harmony, internal tensions simmer beneath the surface. The castle harbors numerous rivalries among the nobility, hidden ambitions, and private fears that threaten the stability of the realm despite its outward magnificence. Trade routes converge upon New Camelot, making it a center of commerce and culture where knights, merchants, and travelers gather. The architecture itself reflects centuries of construction and refinement, blending practical military engineering with the grandeur befitting a royal seat.
